Hearts of Light
The initiative aims to give girls the option to take part in activities, projects and lectures, that teach them to be more productive individuals, help them to develop in their leadership skills, relationship skills, skills in being of service to others, to help them promote awareness of important issues and equip them to be pro-active members of their community and assist the people they care about.
Activities include a supervised weekly sports club, run by a qualified female sports instructor, arts and crafts sessions, cooking classes, life skills sessions and fun day outings to places such as Garsons Farm, London Eye river cruise, Woburn Safari park and PGL adventure.

Forest School Sessions!
Forest Schools are an inspirational process that offer children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self esteem through hands on learning in a woodland environment. The aim of the course is to provide an opportunity for children to learn in a natural, outdoor setting throughs hands on experiences. It involves exploring the woodlands, learning about what the woodland is used for & developing skills includung communication, teamwork, & independence. Some activities involve the safe use of basic tools & using small fires to make snacks!
Chinese Calligraphy Workshop
The Hearts of Light group organised their second workshop with Chinese calligraphist Zainab An Hui. The workshop including an introductory session explaining about Islam & Muslims in China; followed by a short lecture about the art of Chinese calligraphy. Then attendees were given a practical demonstration by the teacher, and then students made their own calligraphy pens and started their own pieces under the supervision of sister Zainab.
Islamic Geometric Art Course
The Hearts of Light youth group are currently running a 5 week course in Islamic geometric art course run by Hajrah Ayub. Ms Ayub has an undergraduate degree in Art & Design & has studied various art based courses including Arabic calligraphy and Islamic art.
Time: Saturdays 3.00 - 5.00pm

First Aid Course
We were blessed to run a day course in first aid. 15 girls partook in this essential first aid course and obtained certification in Youth First Aid - Module One, which is valid for three years. The course covered essential first aid techniques dealing with the recovery position, CPR, choking, burns, bleeding and shock.
Congratulations to all those who obtained this vital qualification.
Hearts Of Light - Fashion Show Fundraiser
An evening of fun, food, games, competitions, prizes and a fashion show created by the girls of your community. Stalls will include arts and crafts, face painting, henna, pinata, luck dip, and much more!
Many thanks to everyone who helped with our first fundraiser. AlhamduliLlah we raised £820.20

Time: Mondays 6.00 - 8.00pm.
Location: Woking College, Rydens Way, Woking, Surrey, GU22 9DL
Duration: 5 weeks
Cost: £15 per child (HOL members), £37 per child (non-members)

In sha'Allah we will rotate between arts & crafts and cooking each week.
For the cooking sessions we will need the children to bring in their own ingredients and will mail you with the details of this.
